In 2012 I came to the land of America as a happy-go-lucky 37 year old Desperate Housewife ready to be a British expat and soak up all that the USA had to offer. I will return to the UK in the summer of 2015 as a 40 year old Desperate Housewife whose had a blast living and travelling in Maryland, USA.
Now I have to learn to repatriate in the UK, back in my home town in England. Yikes. This blog is about the process of getting my head round the whole ‘going back home’ thing and how I get to grips with returning the UK, the culture, the lifestyle, and driving on the left.
To be honest, I’m nervous. I’ve been soooooo busy and had soooooo much fun in the USA and I’m not quite sure what to expect back in England, in our old house, falling in to the same way of living, our old hobbies and habits…..OR, do we makes some changes and try to live life in an altogether different way, with the verve, lust for life and sense of adventure that we adopted in the USA? (FYI, the latter is the RIGHT answer! 😉 )
You can find out all about my amazing adventures over the past few years in the USA via my blog Desperate English Housewife in Washington, and this blog will run in conjunction with it as the two journeys overlap (one moving forward or back, however you look it at it, and one nearing its end – sob, sob).
It’s gonna be a fun, sad, scary, weird, and totally blog-worthy – of course!
